At Studio Thonik, a design agency in Amsterdam, a select group of third-year students took part in a workshop led by Roy Terhorst, Thonik’s animator. It was incredibly inspiring to see Roy’s creative process in action.

During the two-day workshop, we were tasked with creating one or more animations based on the themes: space, air, time, and light.

My four animations remained fairly basic, but the process—from sketching to bringing them to life digitally in After Effects—was extremely valuable. Roy shared a number of insights and techniques that were very helpful and gave me a deeper understanding of animation.
